Chennai: After almost 20 days, Tamil Nadu reported a drop in new cases to 23,975 on Sunday compared to 23,989 on Saturday.
Cases in Chennai (8,987), however continue to increase together with 18 other districts.
The pepititification level of the Chennai test is around 30%.
This means that every third person tested is found infected.
The vandalur zoo is closed after 80 employees infected.
Also, from 22 deaths in Tamil Nadu, 10 were in Chennai.
After Chennai, the highest number of new cases reported from Chengalpet (2,701), Coimbatore (1,866) and Tiruvallur (1,273).
The sharpest increase is in tubkasi, where there are 194 new cases compared to 21 on Saturday.
A quick increase in everyday case encourages the total number of active cases to more than 1.42 lakh.
