PANAJI: On another jolt to BJP, one of the AreaMost functioner, former Head of the Ministry of Lax Mikant Parsekar resigned from the primary party membership on Saturday.
Parsekar took his bond with a party after 32 years, three days after he was rejected by party nomination for Mandrem.
BJP has announced that sitting MLA Dairand Sopte as his candidate.
“After thinking correctly and with a heavy heart, I have made this decision today.
I never thought I would be left in a position like that.
For the benefit of Mandrem Constituencing and Pernem Taluka, the future of youth and overall development, I have separated from Party, “said Parsekar, added that he also resigned as the organizer of the Party Manifesto Committee.
“This will be my last election and I do not want to be a minister and minister.
I want to be MLA to get a delayed job done in the election, where the government has invested, by fighting in the assembly.
In the next two days, I will make a decision Will it oppose the assembly selection as an independent candidate, “said Parsekar.
Parsekar has played an important role as BJP State President in 2012, when the party has succeeded in forming a government with the majority.
But in 2017, when he was the main minister, he lost assembly elections with a margin of 7,000 votes for Sopte, who then stopped the Congress and was re-elected as Mandrem Mla on BJP tickets.
Over the past few days, BJP did not leave the stone missed to convince the parskar not to stop at the party and work to ensure his victory in Mandrem.
Before BJP stated his first list on Wednesday, the parsekar was called to Delhi.
He held a meeting with the National President of BJP J P Nadda, National Secretary General (Organization) B L Santosh and Nion Ministers Union Amit Shah, where he was told that his position was weak in Mandrem in accordance with the survey conducted by parties.
Senior officials also suggested a parsekar to stay with the party and offered him the position of the governor and membership of Rajya Sabha.
On Friday, the selection of the BJP Goa election was responsible for Devendra Fadnivis met Parsekar to convince him that he would be given a party position.
“Fadnavis met me and tried to convince me.
He gave me a big deal and convincing the party would rehabilitate me.
I told him that I was not interested in rehabilitation.
I don’t want the top post.
I want to complete projects that I have started in Mandrem and Pernem when I was the main minister …
who could change the lives of people, “said Parsekar.
“I told Fadnavis that after I resigned from the party, I thought of fighting for the election as an independent candidate.
After listening to me, Fadnavis was surprised.
I haven’t saved the provisions for the party to convince me,” he said.
As soon as he was rejected by the ticket, his supporters in Mandrem urged him to separate from parties and contests as independently.
“In accordance with the party survey, I was weak in all villages.
I want to see in what position Mandrem people will keep me in this election.
I want to see whether the correct party survey or the mandate of people is.
We don’t need to wait too long to see if The survey is true, “he said.
Parskar hit Sopte for ignoring constituencies and could not complete the project, including hospital and water schemes, for the past five years.
“If you want to give a ticket to MLA sitting, it means you want to make chaos at Taluka,” he said.
Reacting to the decision of the parsekar, the State President of BJP Sadanand Shet Tanavade said his decision to get out of the party was “unfortunate and wrong”.
