Ahmedabad: It was a landmark day for the city of Ahmedabad without a positive covid-positive case registered in 24 hours.
The last time the city reached this achievement was 528 days ago, on April 2, 2020, when the pandemic had just maintained his head.
To put it in the perspective, at 2.38 lakh total cases and 3,411 deaths, Ahmedabad is the most affected area of Gujarat with the highest Covid cases and death during a pandemic.
At the beginning of the pandemic, it was one of the worst affected districts in India which had pushed the central expert team to visit the city and held a meeting with state administration.
Over the past two months, the city rarely recorded everyday cases in two digits.
There are fewer deaths, too.
Dr.
Bharat Gadhvi, President of Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (AHNA), said that for the past 10 days, the city hospital had not seen a single Covid case, while the case was a little and far away for the last 40 days.
Dr.
Rakesh Joshi, a medical supervisor of a civil hospital, said that during the past month, there were no direct Covid cases treated at the hospital.
“3-4 patients we have are suspects with the same symptoms, and are generally treated for symptoms.
In the past two months, we have three days zero without new patients.
I congratulate Amdavadis for achievements and urge them to remain vigilant to eradicate Covid, “he said.
Experts say large gatherings during celebrations should be avoided and the protocol is followed.
“Vaccination has also made his role in reducing cases and severity,” Dr.
Gadhvi said.
