After a long wait, Rob Byappanahalli is ready

Bengaluru: One of the longest Bengaluru longest infrastructure project is finally completed.
Rail Bridge Over 810M-long (Rob) in Byappanahalli, proposed in 2010-11, has now been completed after a delay of more than a decade.
Last month, the Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said SIR M Visvesvaraya Terminal (Terminal Third Training Byappanahalli) will be opened only after the connectivity issue is resolved.
Terminal Sir MV 314-crore which offers facilities such as airports and ready in March 2021 have not been unveiled.
TOI has brought a series of articles about delays Byappanahalli Rob.
Rob will ensure connectivity between the terminal and the metro station SIR MV Swami Vivekandada in Old Madras Road.
However, the width of two lanes rob is not possible to reduce congestion.
BBMP has recently floated a tender to rob the other two lanes wide.
BBMP plans to build an elevated rotary flyover at Junction Maruthi Sevanagar-IOC, it is unclear when the project will be completed.
Southwest railway official confirmed that the structure is completed.
“Just some finishing work and painting are delayed,” said an official.
However, the BBMP has not completed roads and drainage work on the approach road from Old Madras road.
While the street lights have been installed on Rob, they are not yet functioning.
SWR officials said work on Rob stopped in 2012 after a group of engineers Madras (Madras sappers) refused permission to the SWR to perform construction work on the land.
Jobs returned only in 2019 after the defense ministry gave the nod.
However, the project to be finished in June 2020 missed a series of deadlines.
SWR officials said the work Rob faces several constraints, including delays in getting permits from the defense and a shortage of workers because of the pandemic and locking.
SWR officials say they have completed the subway under Rob for two wheels and pedestrians.
This facility will also provide better access to areas such as Maruthi Seva Nagar and Old Byappanahalli to Old Madras Road.
It also would eliminate two gates at the level crossing Bengaluru-Chennai railway line was busy, which is often viewed the movement of passengers and goods trains – ordinary people wait 72 times a day at the gate.
Rob settlement will provide assistance to passengers, especially visitors office and school children, who are often stuck at the gates of this intersection.
Many regular commuters say they are relieved now.
“Better late than never.
BBMP must install street lights and complete the road work.
The approach road is not safe for commuters, especially for women at night.
We want SWR to open Rob without further delay because the work has been completed.
We have suffered a lot because of delays “said Ramesh Kumar, a resident of old Byappanahalli.
