Hyderabad: After bagging the $ 2.77 billion e-commerce data center last year, Telangana is ready to capture one of the biggest Microsoft data center projects which requires more than $ 2 billion in investment.
The proposed investment is scheduled to be one of the biggest by Microsoft outside the United States.
Toi has learned that Microsoft has been in Parleys with the Telangana Government since the beginning of the year and the proposal was in the final stage of finalization with an expected announcement immediately.
The discussion for the project was started by Telangana IT & Industries Minister of KT Rama Rao almost with CEO Microsoft & Chairman Satya Nadella in January-February.
“Discussions are in the final stage.
Certain problems such as whether it will be one location or several locations and the size of the investment has not been decided.
Microsoft seems to be willing to continue with preparing the data center here, although officially not confirmed,” said the source to PTI.
The company examines the availability of land to the government’s sources say the company has examined the availability of land in the area in and around Hyderabad such as Shamshabad, Maheshwarram and Shabad, among others.
The email sent to the Microsoft PR agent has not yet produced a reply.
Microsoft is scheduled to add data centers in at least 10 more countries this year.
