Kolkata: After launching the CNG bus installed, the Minister of Transportation of Bengal Firhad Judge on Wednesday inaugurated a double fuel bus by lowering a few meters in Kasba Depot.
The bus runs well on Diesel and CNG.
It will be experimentally walking between Kolkata and Aasyi.
“If the trial is successful, we will replicate the retrofitment model on another bus,” Firhad Judge said.
The judge added that if the experiment was successful, the model will be replicated for personal and government buses.
“Modified machines that run at 60% CNG and 40% diesel, will reduce operating costs by 35 to 40%, with reduction if carbon monoxide emissions (CO) of 50%, nitrogen emission oxide (NOx) of 60%, hydrocarbon emissions Non methane (NMHC) up to 50% and 90% of particulate emissions, “said Chinmoy Chakraborty, a car engineer, who has reinstalled a double fuel engine on the old bus.
However, car engineering experts say otherwise.
“There is a research organization to decide on the type of machine and the possibility of retrofitment.
We have no problem if it runs on CNG or only on diesel.
But the machine will cause problems if the fuel varies,” said Professor Prabir Bose, a car engineering expert.
Result Mohan Ghosh, an automatic emissions consultant for the modified IC machine said, “Every technical modification requires the type of approval of the official agent like Arai to get the waiver of the road.
I don’t oppose any experiments, but for people’s safety, the trial should be on the test path, Not on the city road.
