Jaipur: Covid-19 multiple mutation other variants, apart from Delta, has been found in Rajasthan.
Five people were tested positive for Kappa variants in the state.
They were infected during the second wave.
The Kappa variant is still not a concern, but it is an interesting variant.
Because the second wave was dominated by a Delta variant and five covid-19 patients infected during April and May, the health department is now alert.
SMS Medical College confirmed that five cases of Covid-19 were tested positive for the Kappa variant.
However, they denied the case link to the country.
“We have reported cases of Kappa variants but they all belong to other countries.
Rajasthan has not reported all cases of Kappa variants, all cases from outside,” said Dr.
Sudhir Bhandari, SMS Medical College, Jaipur.
SMS Medical College has sent samples for genome sequencing to the Laboratory in Delhi and at the National Institute of Virology, Pune since January.
The country recently received reports on genome sequencing.
Of the 174 samples, as many as 166 samples were tested positive for Delta variants collected from the country in April and May, and five Kappa variants, also known as B.1.617.1, which is a variation of multicuts such as it has an E484Q and L453R mutation.
“In addition, Rajasthan has reported a variant of Delta Plus, while there are no cases of Lambda variants which are reported in a state so far,” said a senior health department official.
The Health Office officials said that their genome sequencing reports had received the majority of positively tested samples for the Delta variant.
However, only one Delta Plus case was found, namely from Bikaner.
The Ministry of Health team continues to camp in the area for more than a week at Bikaner, from where the first Delta Plus case is reported.
More than 500 samples were taken from the area but were all tested negative for Covid-19.
