Bhubaneswar: The number of detainees, suffering from mental illness, has increased steadily in the state.
This was revealed in Indian prison statistics 2020 released by the National Crime Note Bureau (NCRB) on Monday.
With 696 mentally ill inmates in 2020, Odisha stood second only to Uttar Pradesh, which had 1,507 mental ill prisoners during the period.
In 2019, at all 626 inmates who were mentally ill asked in different prisons here, the NCRB report said.
