OnePlus is launching the Nord CE 5G smartphone in India on June 10.
But this is not the true successor of the first OnePlus Nord phone.
OnePlus will launch the second edition of the device in the form of Nord 2 some time later.
Reports claim that it may launch in July 2021, but this information is not confirmed yet.
OnePlus Nord CE 5G can be considered as another affordable 5G-enabled Android smartphone which is expected to cost less than the OnePlus Nord.
As OnePlus CEO Pete Lau mentioned, the “CE” in the OnePlus Nord CE 5G stands for “Core Edition”.
In other words, the OnePlus Nord CE 5G will be a stripped down version of the Nord.
OnePlus is launching the Nord CE 5G with Snapdragon 750G SoC while the older OnePlus Nord is powered by a better Snapdragon 765G chipset.
“This is a product which really aims to deliver a fantastic essential experience.
We distilled the original Nord down to its core elements, and added a couple of extra features to bring you a phone that’s a little more than you’d expect, at an even more affordable price,” Lau said in a statement earlier.
OnePlus has also introduced the 3.5mm headjack in the OnePlus Nord CE 5G.
The reason is simple: most smartphones in the budget come with a 3.5mm headphone jack and the OnePlus Nord CE 5G surely did not want to look less competitive.
The OnePlus Nord CE 5G will most likely come with a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate.
It will be a punch hole display.
There will be a triple-camera setup with a 64MP primary sensor.
For selfies, there will be a 16MP front camera.
Other specs are expected to be similar to the OnePlus Nord.
However, OnePlus will only add limited 5G band support to the Nord CE.
