After protest, GMC found the ground to shift the parking project

Ghaziabad: Facing protests for the construction of multi-storey parking lots near Ambedkar Park, Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) has identified 5,000 square meters near the Shaheed Nagar Nagar Bus Metro station for this project.
Officials said patch of land – near red mall – was identified because of its proximity to the metro station and GT Road.
“The recent GMC board attracted a proposal to build multi-storey parking near Ambedkar Park.
We were assigned to find an alternative place for this project.
A patch of 20,000 meters of land has been identified near the new bus metro station,” said Mahendra Singh Tanwar, Commissioner City.
“Of the total land, we have recorded 5,000sqm for parking projects.
This land is surrounded by several busiest places of the city, which will make the parking lot more important there,” he added.
After this, GMC will take land tests in the area.
“Meanwhile, we have asked the wing of construction services and Jal Nigam designs to prepare detailed project reports about multilevel parking,” Tanwar said.
“We hope the DPR is ready in two weeks.
After that, we will make estimated project costs,” he added.
According to the initial plan, multilevel parking can accommodate 500 four wheels and 1,000 two wheels at once.
The source said there was a struggle to prepare projects before the assembly selection next year.
“The process of obtaining long project sanctions.
After being examined by the GMC board, the project report will be sent to the state government for final approval.
In the end, we strive to speed up as much as possible,” Commissioner said.
Until now, Ghaziabad has a full multilevel parking near the Vaishali Metro station while working on the others in Indirapuram ongoing.
Launched in 2015, the Vaishali parking lot is the first city project like that.
Spread in 7,000sqt, it can accommodate around 520 four-wheels at once.
The parking lot has succeeded in delivering the area mostly.
The success of Vaishali Multilevel’s parking has caused demands for similar projects in other parts of the city.
“Unlike the Trans-Hindon area, more planned, the city has a very limited space.
There is an urgent need for parking here,” said Satveer Saini, a resident.
“Now the metro line passes nearby and the Rapid Rail project is underway, the area will become clogged if the parking lot does not come here,” he added.
