Thiruvananthapuram: After reporting more than 30,000 cases for four consecutive days, Kerala on Sunday recorded 29,836 fresh infections that pushed total infection in the country to 40.07.408.

Among the districts, Thrissur recorded the highest with 3,965 cases followed by Kozhikode (3,548), Malappuram (3,190), Ernakulam (3,178), Palakkad (2,816), Kollam (2,266), Thiruvananthapuram (1,853), Kannur (1,853)), alappuzha ( 1,498), Pathanamthitta (1,178), Wayanad (1,002) and IDUKKI 962.
Of new cases, 98 are health workers, 229 from outside the country and 28,372 infected through contacts, with the contact source unclear in 1,137 cases, the release said.
At present there are 5,33,817 people under supervision in various districts.
Of these, 5.03,762 was in the quarantine of a house or institutional and 30,055 in the hospital.
