Nashik: The fire department earlier this year advised Ahmednagar civil hospitals, where 11 Covid patients died in the flames on Saturday, to regulate the right fire fighting equipment throughout the place.
The department gave this advice after conducting a fire audit at the hospital in March.
The fire broke at 10:30 a.m.
was caused by a short circuit in the hospital intensive care unit (ICU), which had more than 500 beds.
Four women are among 11 who die.
The victims died because they tended to die or burns.
The eight member committee has been formed to look into the cause of the fire.

Rajendra Bhosale District collector acknowledged that there were problems related to fire safety in the ICU.
He said equipment such as hydrant water and water sprinklers should have existed at the time of construction itself.
He said he would challenge to take additional work when the operational ward.
On Sunday, there were 25 patients who were treated in the hospital general ward.
Senior official said the 20th ICU of other beds from the hospital was intact.
Patients who are seriously ill can be shifted to this ICU if needed, they add.
However, after Saturday’s fire incident, no new patients were treated in the ICU.
Six patients in the ICU shifted to other hospitals in the city.
Those responsible will not be spared: Minister of Health Minister of Health Maharashtra Rajesh Tope on Sunday said the eight member team, led by the commissioner of Radhakrishna Game Divisioner, investigating the cause of the fire, has been directed to submit its report within 8 days.
“Anyone who is responsible for the fire incident will not be spared.
The Committee consisting of fire experts and health experts works to find reasons behind the incident,” he added.
