The European Commission has proposed making it mandatory for smartphone brands and other electronic manufacturers to launch products with general charging ports.
If the proposal is adopted by the European Parliament, the brand will have 24 months to obey.
The proposal mandates that the device must be launched with a public USB type USB port.
This may not have much an impact on the Android brand but is expected to affect Apple which still relies on lightning port for its iPhone.
Now, Apple has two choices: Launch an iPhone with type-C port or get rid of replace the port at all in the future.
How could it be? According to the report on the verge of the European Commission’s spokesman confirmed that “if the device only charges wirelessly, then there is no requirement to integrate the USB-C charging port.” The new proposal by the European Commission aims to reduce electronic waste and will encourage smartphone users to reuse chargers.
Apple has introduced new Magsafe wireless charging technology along with its accessories in 2020 with the launch of the iPhone 12 series.
And when the Magsafe ecosystem developed over the years, it might be very possible that Apple took the charging port at all from the iPhone.
There will be no questions about the lightning port or type-C when the iPhone will be fully portless.
There is quite a lot of time for this to happen and Apple needs to come up with technology to increase wireless charging speeds.
Technology is already there.
Both Oneplus and Xioami have exhibited 50W and 80W wireless charging capabilities that can recharge smartphones in a short time.
Apple didn’t think too much before taking off the headphone jack was also not hesitant when removing the charging adapter from the box.
Now, with Magsafe filling technology already exists, Apple can take another thick step by removing the charging port at all.
As far as compliance with concerned wireless charging, the European Commission is said to be “aligning” fast filling technology to prevent different manufacturers from unbelievable charging limits.
“This will help ensure that the speed of charging is the same when using a compatible charger for the device,” he added.
So, all that Apple needs to be done is to comply with the wireless charging limit requirements and eventually generate more money by selling wireless chargers.
