Bhubaneswar: the stage is set for business concridation to be regulated by the state government here on Thursday.
The purpose of the meeting, the top of the first main person since the Pandemic of Covid-19 broke out last year, was to attract investors from Japan.
Japanese Ambassador for India Satoshi Suzuki, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Union Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Japan’s Diplomat and Japanese company representatives in India will attend the meeting, despite senior state government officials such as Chief Secretary of the Sure Chandra Mohapatra.
The Secretary of the United States is also scheduled to meet CM Naveen Patnaik at night, officials said.
“We will focus on drawing Japanese investment in the downstream and chemical steel sectors.
We expect more investment from Japan in the coming days,” Hemant Sharma Industry Secretary said to Ti.
A senior government official said several investors from Japan, especially in the steel, downstream and chemical sectors have been looking for business opportunities in India.
Given the conducive atmosphere for the growth of the steel industry in Odisha, the state government attracts all stops to seduce them.
The tentative seminar agenda said it would begin with a brief note about investment opportunities in Odisha followed by presentations on the business ecosystem in the state by industrial secretaries.
Yoji Taguchi, CMD from Mitsubishi Corporation India Pvt Ltd and Shuke Suto, MD of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries India Pvt Ltd, among other investors from ‘Sunrise Land’, has confirmed their participation in the meeting.
Besides them, Yasuyuki Murahashi, the head of the Director General, Japan’s external trade organization (India) will join a virtual meeting.
The company’s top executives such as Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel, Trl Krosaki, Indo Nissin and JSW, who have invested in Odisha for many years, also tend to join seminars.
Odisha has seen the slander of Japanese investors to the state.
While the Japanese food processing giant Indo Nissin has established its plants in Khurda and contemplates the expansion of the unit, Japanese steel maker Nippon Steel has formed a joint venture for investment in the state, including steel plants in Kendrapada, and river docks in Udayabata in the Jagatsinghpur district.
