After the petition, IIT-M gives custody of 3 sick dogs to NGOs

Chennai: Three severe sick dogs stored at home in Iit-Madras were released into the care of people for animals on Wednesday after the NGO submitted a petition at the Institute.
PFA Shirnai Pareira, who went to find the release of 14 dogs, could get only three custody.
Veterinarians who treat dogs after their release say they appear dehydrated and lose food.
Since October 4, 2020, IIT-M has maintained 186 wild dogs in confinement on campus.
In this August inspection, the livestock department found 14 sick dogs.
NGOs have searched for the liberation of these dogs for care.
The dogs are only four to six years old.
On this month’s inspection visit, Minister of Health MA Subramanian has objected to keeping the dog still locked up.
After the death of more than 45 dogs in recent months, a police complaint was submitted against the Jane Prasad IIT-M registrar and the others by animal activists, Harish from Bangalore.
Prasad did not respond to messages from TOI.
Saraswathi Mopuru Animal Activist said IIT-M had received that 56 dogs had died.
They must submit the care of the dogs to others instead of locking them in this way, he said.
