Nagpur: After a long three-year wait, Nagpur University (NU) finally got a full-time registrar in the form of Raju Hiwase on Tuesday.
After the choice by the panel, the former Financial Officer and Account (FAO) immediately took the charge from Anil Hirekhan, who was keeping an additional cost.
Hiwase ownership as FAO has ended, but he was given an extension of six months considering the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
The newly appointed clerk told Toi, “My focus will be on a digital transformation from the University, which is the dream of our Chancellor Chancellor (VC) Subhash Chaudhari.
Another target is to reach the highest value in the national assessment and the accreditation board (NAAC).” He Adding, “Apart from this, I will work hard to fill several empty posts at the university and also to promote research activities.
The final goal is to restore the past glory of our historical institutions and make it the most sought after in Central India at the end of my term.
“A total of 38 candidates were applied to the post from all Maharashtra, where 10 attracted their application on the first day of interview on Monday.
Along with Hiwase, even Hirekhan is the front runner for the post.
Another strong ass is Shyam Koreti, Vijay Bansod, Sangita Lohi, Ashok Khobragade, and one teacher from Pune.
Since Uncle Meshram lowered the registrant office in 2018 after the end of its five-year term, the appointment process for the post was often damaged into one or other controversy.
Previously, the accusation was handed over to the former NEERAJ KHATY test controller, who then appointed a full-time registrar by former VC SP Kane in 2019 after conducting an interview.
However, Khaty refused to join after Shikshan Manche, one of the dominant players in NU’s politics, allegedly forced Kane to appoint its candidate, according to NU officials.
