AHD: 5-star expecting a big boom from the Expo defense

Ahmedabad: In March next year, rooms in all five-star Ahmedabad hotels are expected to be sold at a price of six to ten times the average average (ADR).
The Defense Expo will be held at Ahmedabad from March 11-14 and an estimated 3,500 rooms will be needed at Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, getting a hotel cash register.
“This is the first major event scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar after a pandemic and it will provide a urge that is very much needed for the city hospitality sector,” said Jay Sudhakarakan, General Manager, Novotel Ahmedabad.
“Questions and negotiations have begun with the Defense Expo delegation.
During the previous exhibition edition in Goa and Lucknow, ADR was around Rs 30,000 per room per night.” Industrial players said that room rates are estimated to range between Rs 20,000 and Rs 40,000 per room per night during these dates.
In fact, in the absence of international air connectivity directly to Ahmedabad from several destinations, travelers expect a room to start filling a few days in front of the event, starting March 9 and so on.
“With a surge in demand, City hotels are expected to be fully sold out on the exhibition date,” said Deep Preet Bindra, General Manager, Courtyard by Marriott, Ramdevnagar.
“It will provide great bearings for hotels in the city.
Great delegates are expected to attend the Summit and hotels throughout the city flooded with questions for these rooms.” Defense producers, representatives of additional companies, embassy delegations, foreign government representatives, and Indian government officials will come to Ahmedabad for the exhibition.
Narendra Somani, President of the Hotel and Restaurants Association, Gujarat, said: “We hope this will bring big business but the Covid-19 situation needs to be closely monitored.” He added: “The question must be good and we expect a good business all this time.” Sources in the state government have also signaled the lively Gujarat summit which will be held in January next year.
However, the date has not been resolved.
