Ahmedabad: A woman has filed a complaint of the police against her husband and in-laws, accusing them demanding Mahar RS 9 Crore and forced him to undergo abortion.
The woman, who lives in Ahmedabad, married a man from Gurugram in Haryana, but settled in Dubai.
The woman in complaints said that her husband and in-laws also demanded a bungalow and luxury car.
The 28-year-old woman filed a complaint at the Women’s (Western) Police Station on Thursday.
In his complaint, the woman said that in 2019, she married the man after in touch with him on the matrimonial website.
The woman has lived in her father’s house in Ambli in the city since June this year.
He told the police that from the second day of his marriage, his in-laws treated him coldly.
He said they told him that they were not happy with the prizes they received from his family.
In January 2020, when the woman and her husband came to her house in Ahmedabad, her husband asked Rs 5 Crore from his father.
His father said he could not set a very large amount.
The woman told the police that when he returned alone at his father’s house in March 2020, he found that he was pregnant.
When he told his husband and in-laws, they pressed him to cancel the fetus.
He told the police that he had an abortion at the Gynecologist Clinic at Thaltej in April 2020.
He said in his complaint that his father and brother visited his house in Dubai in January this year and gave her husband and 60gm.
However, his in-laws continue to ask for bungalows, luxury cars and Rs 9 Crore.
He returned to his father’s house in June this year.
