Ahmedabad: The Consumer Court has ordered a multibrand clothing brand clothing factory in Shyamal Crossroads to pay compensation of 1,500 Rs to consumers who have taken the exception to sell RS10 carry bags in the store.
Consumer dispute Redressal commission, Ahmedabad (rural), last week also ordered a brand factory to return RS 10 to customers, Maulin Fadia from Shahibaug, with 8%.
Fadia has sued the store taking an exception for sales of Rs 10 Carry Bag.
The bag is made of colorful paper names of all branches of the store.
According to the details of the case, Fadia went shopping and bought goods worth Rs 2,486 on May 10, 2019.
Because he did not carry any bag with him to carry clothes, the shop gave him a tote bag but was charged an additional rs 10 for the same thing.
Fadia objected to sales.
Then, he dragged this problem to the consumer court who claimed compensation and was fine.
Before the consumer commission, the shop advocate submitted that clear display notification has been placed at the table and on the case counter that the customer who does not want to buy a carry bag can carry their own bag.
Customers are not forced to buy a tote bag.
The store does not provide free tote bags.
Because plastic bags cause damage to the environment, have decided to offer a paper bag.
Fadia lawyers fight the argument that no notification is seen when customers have visited the store.
The notification board may have been placed later to create a defense.
Consumer commissions approve fadia arguments.
Not always that customers carry bags when they go shopping.
“Therefore, we believe that opponents must provide a free tote bag,” he said.
After hearing this case, the Commission ordered RS 10 refund which was charged for the bag.
It asked the brand factory to pay Rs 1,000 to Fadia to compensation to cause mental harassment and RS 500 to make legal expenditure.
