Ahmedabad: Right when the city began to explode in Diwali celebrations, the elderly pair was killed brutally with their throat gap by unknown people in the Rannapark area in Ghatlodiya on Tuesday night.
Police officials said that prima facie, robbery appears to be the motive behind the gruesome murder even when they are investigating other angles as well.
The couple, identified as Shanbuag (90) and his wife Vijyalakshmi Shanbug (80), was found killed at their residence at Parasmani Flats.

Senior police official said the murder was revealed around 8 pm on Tuesday when a boy from a local chemist shop came to give medicines ordered over the phone.

The couple’s son and his wife live in a house in Adalaj while their daughter lived with her grandparents in a neighboring flat.
He is reported to have stepped out of his house when it happened.
Ghatlodiya police along with the crime branch team, forensic experts and dog squad swooped on the murder site.
Zone-1 DCP Ravindra Patel said that prima facie robbery could be the motive behind the killing although they are investigating all possible angles that cause crime.
