Ahmedabad: City police on Wednesday beat two men, including one from Mumbai, with 70 grams of Mephedrone worth Rs 10 lakh from the highway between Bareja and Jetalpur villages.
The defendant was identified as Yaqub Palsara, 48, a resident of Maldo in Mumbai and Sadiq Pathhan, 39, a citizen of Shahe-nature in Ahmedabad, said the police branch said.
The police said that Palsara brought narcotics to him from Mumbai and was arrested along with Pathan who came there to receive drugs.
Acting on the input, a crime branch team rushed to the highway near the Gokulesh rice mill between Jetalpur and Bareja villages on Thursday and saw them.
The police identified allegations and arrested them with drugs found in Palsara’s pocket.
The police called the FSL officer who verified that the substance confiscated was Mephedrone and sent it for further examination.
The police ordered two under drug narcotics accusations and psychotropic substances (NDPS) acting and starting an investigation.
