Ahmedabad: Chacharwadi Village Farmers on the outskirts of Motown Sanand in the Ahmedabad district have a strange problem.
They cannot grow plants, not because of scarcity, but because of waterlogging.
The root problem of Chacharwadi Village is that the village lake has been interrupted and filled with land after the industrial park was established around it.
With a natural water flow from the field to the lake after stopping, most of the village fields still sink more than half a year.
“This has become an annual problem that is getting worse every year.
Our field will continue to be submerged below even after the rainy season ends,” Villager Paresh Patel said.
Other farmers Mansukh Prajapati, who have submitted a case in the High Court also, said that around 200 hectares of land have been considered useless to agriculture for more than half a year.
“I have submitted several applications to the collector.
Until the lake is restored again, our problem will not end.
So I approached the High Court,” Prajapati said.
Previously, the High Court had asked the district collector to investigate.
Based on orders, the industrial garden border wall is pulled down, but the lake continues to be interrupted.
Sandip Sagale District collector said that he had appointed the official team to see this problem and find a solution.
“Team reports are expected to be submitted in a month.
Activated efforts to find a permanent solution for waterlogging problems,” Sagale said.
