Ahmedabad: Next time, you cross Pakwan Crossroads, Narol Circle, CTM Crossroads or Sola Bhagwat, slow down and drive carefully if you value your life.
A report by the Port and Transportation Department has revealed that Ahmedabad City enrolled 1,185 accidents by 2020, where 340 was fatal – the highest among all cities in the state.
It is also 22 red crossing and stretching roads in the city as ‘accident black spots’ that require direct engineering intervention by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Indian national highway authorities and state roads and building departments to make them safer for passengers.
According to the report, almost half of the accidents and deaths in the state in 2020 were registered in four major cities of the country – Ahmedabad, letters, Vadodara and Rajkot.
Of the four, Ahmedabad witnessed most accidents.
Among the most troubled intersections in the city, Crossroads Pakwan, Narol Circle, SP Ring Road near Odhav, Nikol-Dice of Crossroads, CTM Crossroads and Naroda Patia Crossroads have witnessed more than 10 deaths in a year.
The accident study assigned by the state road transportation department, traffic and AMC police have found that 44% of accidents on the city in the city have at least one minor injury, a 31% accident suffered a serious injury and 25% saw at least one resident loss of life.
Observed that the highest accident during the year was on Wednesday which was 16% of the total.
Also, almost 19% of accidents last during rush hour between 9am and noon and then between 9pm and 11:00.
The study also shows that crucial road infrastructure needs to be installed in accident-prone areas.
“Traffic sedatives must be used to slow down vehicles at the desired speed.
This can be installed right before the approach to the intersection.
