Ahmedabad: Every year between June and September, right when the monsoon arrives, thousands of wild cows migrated to the city road, not for meadows but to escape insects such as mosquitoes and flies.
This clearly reflects an average of 10,000 to 15,000 livestock seizures made by the Department of Disorders and Control of the Civic (CNCD) body during these months.
During other months, the number is only half.
“The rainy season produces an increase in insect density throughout the city including mosquitoes and home fences in cages.
Because of these insect proliferation, beef irritations and tend to come out in a dry place open.
The strength of the CNCD team remains the same but the number of livestock on the road increases every year during the months This creates a problem for the department and commuter, “said a senior official.
This department arrested 17,752 wild cows in 2019, 10,064 livestock was arrested in 2020 while this year the department has captured 6,456 wild cows so far.
The official said that the CNCD team also had to face attacks of violence from livestock owners when they tried to attract attention.
“A lot of time our team was attacked by livestock owners when we were in the process of capturing deviating.
The locals are also afraid of these livestock owners because many of them are famous and cruel,” he said.
Barot Hitesh, Chairman of the AMC Permanent Committee, said that civil authorities planned to take strict actions against livestock owners who attacked or created a barrier in the official CNCD performance.
