Ahmedabad: One of the largest public libraries in Ahmedabad, Jethabhai Sheth Public Library (MJ), was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi with a donation of his personal collection of 7,000 books in the 1930s – recently audited from the number of books he had for blind to visually people.
A report in this case claims that around 2,500 audio books have recently been added to the reference and stack of ordinary books.
The library also has Braille books.
Special section for blind was established in 2017.
In the first year, a total of 127 visually disrupted individuals access 150 audio CDs and in 2019 around 140 people who are disrupted visually accessing 210 audio CDs.
There is a 9% increase in the membership of the blind people in 2019.
“We are now carrying out a special drive to invite more people who are disturbed to become members.

We have started to approach special institutions for advice to improve collections We, “said a senior official at the MJ Library.
There are 3,641 audio CDs for visual disabled people and library parts equipped with six cum audio-recorders.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, opened the library in 1938, with nine branches in the Ahmedabad district.
