Ahmedabad: Brace for more stringent rules that will separate your domestic waste – if you do not comply, the door-to-door collection of city sanitation workers will refuse to collect the garbage of your community.
In his preliminary meeting with a health and solid waste management team, the newly appointed City Commissioner Lochan Sehra stressed that he wanted to implement a densely waste indore management model in the city of Ahmedabad.
Back in 2018, AMC made a similar effort, concentrated on efforts designed to encourage the city to rise by Swayhh Surveshhan.
The Civic body wants to make Ahmedabad free from ‘looks’ waste’.
AMC, such as Indore Municipal Corporation, then employed 500 members of Sanitation Squaad to train residents and spread awareness in a fixed bag.
But the effort did not pay off.
Indore net roads are the result of an effort of 11,000 sanitation workers, more than 80% of whom are women who live in 1 km of their service area and can manage their homes and work, said a senior AMC official.
“Adequate labor, staff capacity building, and acquisition of equipment including separate garbage tipper Indore Model Center,” the official said.
“The model has other vital elements such as efficient waste separation from recycled waste, strong administrative control, and political will.” There is a popular saying in Indore that “people are afraid of more yellow waste patrol vehicles than police vehicles”.
Sanitation inspector or ‘Daroga-Jis’ in this jeep has the power for fine litterbugs between Rs 100 and Rs 1 Lakh in place.
AMC plans to run a similar jeep in the city.
