Ahmedabad: Although in 2020 witnessed the two-month-posts to post a Pandemic Covid-19, the city traffic police then registered the 6.10 lakh case and had imposed Rs 29.29 Crore to violators.
In 2021, traffic violations fell to 3.67 lakh and 18.54 crore Rs on a fine was imposed on the offenders.
According to city traffic characters, there has been a decline of 2.43 lakh cases from various traffic violations.
The main reason behind the dead traffic case, according to the police, is that the police provide relaxation to traffic violators.
Another reason is that people fell to the habit of following traffic norms that took him almost one and a half years after increasing traffic fines implemented from September 2019.
If the traffic violation figures were 2021 compared to the 2019 figure, then it showed a decline big in violations.
In 2019, the city traffic police registered 15.36 lakh cases of traffic violations which continued to decline over the past two years.
From 2019 to 2021, there was a decline of almost five times in traffic violations.
The city traffic police officer said, “2021 was more deadly from 2020 in terms of Covid-19 pandemic because police personnel focused on the application of Covid norms rather than registering traffic violations.” He added, “In addition, we have focused more on the opening path rather than imposing people in the deadly Covid wave period between March and May this year.” Other police officers said that even though people also began to follow traffic norms to avoid a decent fine but there were still violations such as not wearing a helmet, not wearing a seat belt with car drivers or illegal parking which remained in high violations.
In addition, people continue to show negligence by using cellphones while driving their vehicles.
In some cases, people gave the reasons that they had some medical emergencies but in most of the time, people could not change their habits using cellphones while driving so they had a single police officer.
