Ahmedabad: On April 25, about 139 days ago, the city has recorded 5,790 positive covid cases in 24 hours – at the level of four cases every minute.
The week became a landmark day because the city only recorded a new positive case, for the first time since March 2020, and one of the few days feat.
In both waves of pandemic, Ahmedabad City is one of the worst with high cases and mortality.
To place a figure in perspective, city alone accounted for 1.6 lakh of 5 cases of lakh covid recorded in April and 2021 May – two worst months for the country in terms of positive cases and death – accounting around a third of cases.
Since the beginning of August, Gujarat has recorded 425 positive cases, where 104 recorded at Ahmedabad City, contributed 24% of cases.
The city has not recorded everyday cases in two digits since July 11.
On Sunday, Gujarat also reached another milestone – the country had not crossed 100 daily positive cases in eight weeks or 56 days.
On June 27, the state has 112 cases.
On June 28, the case recorded a 14% decline in 96.
Since July 10, the case of everyday has not violated the sign of 50 cases of everyday, according to the Numbers of the State Health Department.
In the past two months, the state has recorded 2,104 cases and deaths of 28 patients, giving a 1.3% mortality rate.
Dr.
J P Modi, a medical supervisor of a civil hospital, said that the second wave had a hospital rushed for resources and put more beds on an urgent base with a 1200 bed almost full bed.
“But for the past month, the figure of the patient received floated around 10-20.
The triage area also looked at 1-2 cases,” he said.
“Sustainable drive vaccination is one of the factors behind the reduced cases and even reduces mortality.” In private hospitals, the cases were zero for the past three days.
Dr.
Bharat Gadhvi, President of Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (AHNA), said that the average number of patients had not exceeded 10 throughout the 100-plus hospital in August.
“But that doesn’t mean we let our guards go down.
During the celebration season, please be careful.
We don’t want to speed up the third wave,” he said.
