Ahmedabad: A man has been arrested for making 42 call threats to Jyotsna Yagnik, a former special trial judge for the 2002 Naroda Massacre case, for a range of 48 hours.
The defendant Ramswaroop was Pravesh Vankar’s husband who worked as a nurse and domestic assistance at Yagnik’s house in Navrangpura, police said.
Yagnik Kantilal Rathod’s husband, 69, filed a complaint on Thursday, accused the caller of criminal intimidation and used a rough language.
“Because Yagnik was not well right, we hired Pravesh as a nurse and domestic assistance on August 11.
When he worked at home on Tuesday morning, he received a call from someone who told him to come to the police station Sola to give a statement in connection with police complaints against him.
When he told Yagnik about it, the retired judge took the phone from him and asked the caller whether Pravesh could come to the station after work, “said the complaint.
The man on the phone allegedly told Yagnik that he was a police officer.
However, when he asked for his name and the buckle number, he began to abuse the former judge.
Yagnik disconnected the phone but the man made 42 calls threatening to Yagnik from two different telephone numbers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Pravesh filed a complaint of domestic violence against Ramswaroop on Wednesday, after the Sola police held it the following day.
Ramswaroop’s detention was handed over to the Navrangpura police who were investigating the threats made to retirees.
Because he was drunk when he was caught, the defendant was also ordered for violating prohibited norms.
