Ahmedabad: This is the second year in a row for the main educational institute in and around Ahmedabad to welcome the new batch under the shadow of the covid pandemic.
But compared to last year, when all institutes were closed and struggled to learn about online education ropes, this year the campuses were more prepared with a year experience.
But for students, it means a very limited interaction on campus with fewer students present in each classroom, online education is still a norm, and occupancy is limited to hostels.
Pandemic has also spurred the housing campus to create an insulation and emergency care unit.
At IIT Gandhinagar (IIT-GN), the students arrived first under quarantine for several days at the hostel, before they could access the facility.
Likewise, in Mica, there are insulation facilities with nurses, oxygen concentrators, and oxygen cylinders for each emergency.
The Institute has also forbidden outer food packages for now.
Cept University has also arranged doctors and counselors on campus.
On arrival at IIM Ahmedabad (IIM-A), students entered self isolation for four days and were given another RT-PCR test on the fifth day.
Libraries and public facilities are currently open to students with a limited basis for managing covid norms related to social distance capacity etc.
