Ahmedabad: Three workers, including small children, from the bakery in Ghatlodia died of shortness of breath after the oven remained turned on and created a large cloud of smoke.
The tragedy was revealed when the bakery owner, UKS food joint, opened the shutter on Tuesday and found three on the floor, said a police officer Ghatlodia.
The police have registered cases of unintentional deaths.
The Bakery is located at the Gobalnagar Ghatlodia location.
The owner, Rajeshwari Patel, called the police and 108 ambulance services.
Police officers said that the ambulance service doctor stated that the three were dead.
The victims have been identified as Aslam, 21, Ibrahim, 45 and Hasan, 15.
Police Inspector Ghatlodia, Yuvrajsinh Vaghela, said the victims did not have documents and hence their full name and address were unknown.
“We came to know from the locals that the victims had come to the city of Uttar Pradesh only 15 days ago when the bakery was inaugurated,” Vaghela said.
A local corporator, Jatin Patel, said that workers died of inhalation smoke.
“There is no short circuit or fire.
Keeping the oven shifts the resulting smoke and takes their lives,” Patel said.
The negligence on the owner’s side, Vaghela said: “We have registered cases of unintentional deaths and if there is negligence, we will take the necessary legal action.” A team of forensic experts was called.
