Ahmedabad to encourage non-vegetarian carts from the main road

Ahmedabad: Beginning Tuesday, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will break the whip and encourage all non-vegetarian foods and eggs sold on city streets that are not visible from the main roads and public places on the grounds that their sales develop in publicly invites complaints and ‘hurt sentiments’.
Ahmedabad is the fourth city in Gujarat after Rajkot, Vadodara and Bhavnagar Municipal Corporations have issued oral directives, especially ensuring that the non-vegetarian street food carts remain ‘invisible’ in the public eye.
Devang Dani, Chairperson of the City Planning Committee in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, on Monday said the Ministry of Plantation officials had been instructed to eliminate egg and non-vegetarian food carts from the main arterial routes, very specific from outside schools, colleges, religious places , park and garden etc.

Digtat applies to licensed and licensed street food vendors.
Civil Body Officials said egg and non-vegetable food carts can do their business on the internal road but ensure it is not visible to those who use arterial routes for travel.
When asked to clarify the conditions applied to operate from the internal road, Dani said, “All raw materials used for non-vegetable food preparation must be borne.
Fish, poultry and meat must be stored in a closed box,” he said.
The city planning committee also said those who had a valid license to sell mutton, had to do it in a closed cage.
In addition, items sold in stores cannot be hung from hooks, he added.
CM Bhupendra Patel said the decision was taken by civil bodies such as city and corporate corporations.
“The state government does not mind anything in this matter,” Patel said.
