Pune: Regular commuters and Wagholi residents have highlighted the inconvenience caused by the frequent traffic and congestion on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway, past the area.
According to residents, stretching 3 km from the Octroi post to Phata Bakori on the highway vulnerable to traffic congestion.
Sandip Satav, former Deputy Sarpanch and a BJP leader, said it was a long-delayed problem that must be dealt with priority with the inclusion of Wagholi within the boundaries of citizenship.
“We have seen some progress, but there is a long way to go as daily residents and commuters has faced traffic jams almost every day during rush hour,” Satav said.
Nitin Kumar Jain, from the Wagholi Housing Association, said the traffic management in the area was bad.
“Haphazard parking, stopping illegal vehicles, driving the wrong side, and rampant encroachment.” Jain said.
Sanjay Harpale, an ordinary commuter, said that driving in Burir Wagholi challenged.
“Alternative routes must be developed to reduce the burden on the highway, which can only be used by remote vehicles that do not have to stop in Wagholi and the surrounding area,” Harpale said.
An officer from the Traffic Police Department said they were working on solutions to reduce traffic and facilitate the flow of smooth vehicles.
“We will approach the citizenship administration to get some problems resolved, especially encroachment and space occupied along the road and traffic signals,” police officers said.
