Ahoms to get a protected class status in the Tribal Zone: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Ahoms, who ruled most of the Brahmaputra Valley in Assam at this time for around 600 years until England’s arrival in 1826, will be given protected class status in the tribal block and the state belt.

CM said Rs 125 Crore committed to the Tai Ahom development board will be released on November 30 and urges the use of funds for the preservation of unfit historical sites and community monuments.
He also assured that the proposal to establish the University of Swargadeo Sukapha will be considered.
In another meeting with the organization of the Matak community, CM said Sodou Asom Matak Sennimilan would be used as the only body to provide an OBC certificate to members of the community.
Sarma said that the Minister’s Committee of various departments will be established to improve the quantum of reservations of the community in educational institutions.
Regarding land related issues about the community, he assured that they would be resolved under the upcoming mission of Basundhara in a bound and transparent time.
CM said that the state government will take steps to strengthen the revenue development board.
He said that RS 25 Crore is committed to the Board to be released on November 30.
Then, more funds will be given depending on the utilization and project proposal.
He provided a guarantee to provide land for the construction of Matak Bhawan in Guwahati, making the encroachment of the Mayamora Satra free, preserving monuments and historical sites of the community, and making the seat of Dev Aniruddha in the most early university functional.
