New Delhi: The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has appointed former RBI Governor, Urjit Patel, as vice president for South Asia, the Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia – Successfully D J Pandian.
Patel also served as former Chairman of the Government of the National Institute of Finance and Public Policy, a leading think-tank on fiscal policy and tax issues.
He is also the Executive Director and Member of the Management Committee of the Infrastructure Development Company.
Patel has a PhD in the economic field of Yale University and has extensive experience in the infrastructure and energy sector.
He was a recipient of the Wilbur Cross medal from Yale University in 2019 and has written several publications and papers on public finance, infrastructure, economic regulations, monetary policy, global financial security nets, the economic change in climate change and the theory of international trade.
“I am happy to welcome Patel as the newest member of my management team,” said President AIIB Jin Liqun.
“The extensive experience will help banks better embrace the growth phase and will support AIIB’s vision to invest in infrastructure for tomorrow.”
