New Delhi: AIIMS Trauma Center plans to continue non-covid services gradually.
It was declared a Covid-19 facility in March last year and all non-covid emergencies were shifted to the main Institute.
Recently, the Association of Resident Doctors (RDA) AIIMS wrote to the Director of the Institute seeking the start of the trauma service at the center.
The source said the meeting was held recently on a problem where the head of the center, Dr.
Rajesh Malhotra, proposed that non-traumatic services be continued in stages.
Among other things, it has been proposed that three of the five main operating theaters must be operational.
There are also plans to refuse some ICU and the environment for non-covid trauma services.
“At present, most of the beds are appointed for Covid-19 in the center we lay empty.
But, we still cannot close the Covid management plan which is implemented so carefully for months, because cases can begin to rise again as it happens In March, “said a senior official.
He added that in February there were many covid beds in hospitals lying empty and they were considering the resumption of non-covid services when suddenly, March and so on, cases began to increase exponentially.
Officials said that this time the plan was to start a non-covid trauma service gradually.
“Our emergency played AIIMS handles nearly 150-200 patients every day.
The problem we face is mainly is the lack of OTS and Icus and ward to admit it.
Initially, we have proposed to start three OTs where non-emergency trauma surgery can occur.
Surgery Trauma, Neurosurgery, and Orthopedics – Third First Division – will be allocated a number of beds in the ICU and ward for non-covid patients in trauma patients.
If the Covid situation remains stable or increasing, the number of services / facilities can be further enhanced, “said An official.
The proposal has not received free-in front of the administration.
