Aiming for 68m in Tokyo Paralympics, said Devendra Jhjhariah

New Delhi: The day after eliminating his own world record, the two-time Paralympic Gold Medalist, Javelin Devendra Jhjhariah, targeted a distance of 68 M in the Tokyo match, convinced that he could violate the world mark once more.
The first Indian athlete to win two individual gold medals at the Olympic or Paralympics, JHJHARIA posted The Tokyo Paralympic Herth in the F-46 category in style, sending a spear to a 65.71M break during the experiment here Wednesday.
With that effort, he corrected his own world record of 63.97m, set in the Rio game in 2016.
“My target is 67-68m for Paralympics.
I feel very good.
I have broken the world record that also in the trial right before Paralympics.
I Self confident and I know that I will break the world record once again in Paralympics, “Jhajharia told PTI on Thursday.
The largest paralympian in India, which won gold in the 2004 and 2016 matches – both with a recording of the world, said he had worked on increasing strength on his shoulder.
“I have improved my shoulder training.
You need to do special rehabilitation for your shoulders, my flexibility is good but I work to increase strength.” The 40-year-old said he had proven that “age is just a number” with recent achievements, adding it to sportsmen, more important to be mentally strong.
“I didn’t think too much about it.
Now I have broken the world record at 40 years plus years I have proven that age doesn’t matter.
As we get older, the training must be paired, someone cannot practice when they are 17-18 years old but then you have experience , it helps.
“My coach, fitness coach and physiotherapist worked a lot on me, my family had made me free because I practiced in the Gandhinagar training camp.
I think you must be mentally stronger than physically healthy in sports.
“I am mentally suitable for this competition.
I have increased a record to almost 1.75 m, which is a lot,” he added.
Derived from a small village in the Churu Rajasthan district, Jhjhariah, around eight years old when his left hand had to be amputated as soon as he accidentally touched the life power cord that was intertwined with the branch of the tree he had risen.
He fell under the F-46 category which showed athletes had one below or above the elbow amputation.
Being warned by his coach by responding to weight during the covid-19 locking induced, Jhajharia, who was in his village, achieved anything and everything, including a car tire and gas cylinder, to do his training.
“I was in my village during the kuncian and there were no facilities, I practiced in the room but I felt I had learned a lot from that experience too, how to stay fit at that time.” My coach told me that I couldn’t put it on the weight in locking, if you increase you won’t be able to do it.
I did core exercise.
I have no equipment so I use car wheels, gas cylinders, cycle cycles etc.
“The sportsmen watched the river flow in 2019.
The country’s athletes destroyed the record and delivered a Haul medal that had never happened in the world championship.
Jhjharia was sure they would continue the momentum in Tokyo.
He predicted Haul 15 medals.” I am sure That the athletes of the country’s athletes will work well in Tokyo.
I expect 15 medals.
Javelin’s thrower is fine, our five jumper height is fine in various categories, badminton teams are also very good, “he said.
