New Delhi: The Delhi government has raised the prohibition of construction and demolition activities given the improvement of the quality and inconvenience of air caused by workers, Minister of Environment Gopal Rai said on Monday.
Rai also said the government would make calls about the reopening of schools, colleges and other educational institutions and work-from-houses for government staff during a review meeting on Wednesday.
“We will also discuss if the truck operated with CNG carrying goods that is not important can be allowed to enter Delhi if the situation continues to increase,” he said.
The Delhi government on Sunday night extended the ban on a truck carrying non-essential items and worked from home for its employees until November 26 to combat air pollution and minimize its health effects.
“For some time, the air quality index remains above the 600 mark.
However, the steps taken to contain air pollution and changes in the wind pattern have resulted in a gradual decline in the level of air pollution,” he said.
“Given the improvement of air quality and discomfort caused by workers, we have decided to lift the prohibition of construction and dismantling activities.
However, the government will continue to monitor the implementation of dust control measures by all institutions,” Rai said.
at a press conference.
He said 585 monitoring team had worked to ensure direction compliance.
“If there is a agency found to violate dust control norms, the government will stop working and force a penalty without notice,” Rai warns.
The minister said the government had employed 1,000 buses operated with private CNG to add public transportation.
It will have “prayavaran bus rental” written on them and people can travel them like DTC buses.
The strong surface of wind dripping up to 30 kilometers per hour barrel through the capital on Monday, spread pollutants and improve air quality.
Air quality Delhi (AQI) stood at 307 at 1pm, down from 349 hours 4 pm on Sunday.
