Air pollution drops to a dangerous level

Chennai: Despite the promotion of green crackers and time limitations, Chennai City Air Pollution rates fell to a dangerous level during Diwali.
The average value of the air quality index (AQI) here ranges from 342 and 385, according to the Tamil Nadu pollution control board data (TNPCB).
Aqi above 100 can cause breathing uncomfortable for people, in accordance with government standards.
TNPCB Report on Ambient Air Quality Survey (AAQ) has revealed that there is a substantial increase in material particle values (PM 10 and PM 2.5) in five monitoring stations in Chennai – Besant Nagar, T Nagar, Nungambakkam, Triplicane and Sowcarpet – Compared to 2020.
