Air quality monitoring station in TMBU immediately: VC

Bhagalpur: Air Quality Monitoring Station (AQMS) is likely to be established in the Department of Postgraduate Physics in Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) immediately.
The station, which was founded, will monitor the concentration of air pollutants and provide climate details.
This AQMS is part of the air and network pollution modeling project (established) and should be functional in 2017.
However, it skips deadlines because of several obstacles such as space disobedience and three phase electrical connections.
Deputy Chancellor Tmbu Neelima Gupta on Friday said this disorder is now sorted.
“We have taken a proactive approach to project resurrection and it might come true soon.
After starting, it will benefit the Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Nepal side by side,” he said.
The Department of Physics Head in TMBU, Jagdhar Mandal, said AQMS would be equipped with a gas device and sensor to detect carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide and ozone.
“It will also have a dust particle sensor to detect PM10 and PM2.5 which is suspended particulate material in the air.
AQMS will also have devices and sensors to measure temperature, relative humidity and barometric pressure.” The ultra-violet index sensor will help in measurement and Analysis of accurate pollution parameters, “Mandal added.
Memorandum of understanding was signed between TMBU and Tropical Meteorology Institute (IITM) Pune, in February 2017.
The aim was to conduct scientific research in the field of air pollution, climate monitoring and weather forecast.
Source at the University said AQMS will be established in 2017 with RS 1 Crore expenditure.
