Airstrikes Pummel Taliban in the south; guerrilla gain in the north

Kabul: Afghan Air Force made more airstrikes against the position of the Taliban in southern Afghanistan on Thursday, because the rebel power made an additional increase in the north of the country.
The Ministry of Defense statement said the air strike was carried out throughout the country, including in the South Helmand Province, where the capital of Lashkar province was contested fiercely.
Taliban control from nine of the 10 city police districts.
Residents in Lashkar Gah reported severe bombings near government radio and television stations, which were under the control of the Taliban.
Some wedding rooms and guesthouses from the Provincial Governor are all located near the radio and television station.
In North Afghanistan, the Taliban took control of the majority of the Capital of the Sar-E-Pul Province, head of his council, said Mohammad Noor Rahmani.
In recent months, the Group has gained control of dozens of districts in several provinces in the north.
The Taliban attack seems to have increased with the beginning of the last withdrawal of US troops and NATO at the end of April.
When the attack increased, Afghan security forces and government forces have replied with the increasing air strike, assisted by the United States.
This has raised concerns about civilian casualties throughout the country.
“We can tell you that we are very concerned about the safety and protection of people in Lashkar Gah, in the south, where tens of thousands can be trapped by fighting,” said Stephane Dujar, a UN spokesman said on Wednesday.
“We, along with our humanitarian partners in Afghanistan, assess needs and respond in the south, because access allows,” he said.
