Dehradun: MP Nainital Ajay Bhatt simultaneously holds two important offices as Head of BJP Uttarakhand and opposition leader at the previous assembly poll, and drive his party for a massive victory of 57 of 70 seats.
MP Nainital, which was appointed as the United Minister on Wednesday, has served BJP successfully in several key positions in Uttarakhand for years.
Former Ranikhet MLA helped BJP overcome a formidable challenge to plant power from Congress in the 2017 polls.
The 60-year-old Brahmin leader from Kumaon also has a bad luck stroke because he himself cannot defend his own seat.
However, Bhatt more than made to lose when he became MP for the first time in the 2019 General Election, defeating the leader of the experienced Congress and former Head of Minister Harish Rawatt in Nainital of 3.39,096 votes.
It was the biggest margin that MP members were won from the state and were highly credited given the fact that it was the debut of Lok Sabha Bhatt which was made against a heavyweight Congress like taking care.
Even though aggressive as opposition leader, Bhatt attacks on the Assembly are always swept in a dignified language.
He always came to the house fully prepared, armed with facts and numbers and never faltered during the debate.
The name Bhatt is one of the possibilities for the main minister’s post in Uttarakhand every time talking about the change of guards appearing in the state.
First, when Trivendra Singh was replaced by Tirath Singh and later recently when Tirath was replaced by Pushkar Singh Dhami as the new minister.
Born on May 1, 1961 in Ranikhet to Kamlapati Bhatt and Tulsi Devi, Ajay Bhatt lost his father at an early age and had a small period of struggle.
After getting a legal degree from Almora College, he had a successful career as a lawyer.
He joined ABVP as a student and had carried out active politics since 1980.
Inspired by Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, Bhatt was actively associated with the struggle of Uttarakhand for the Government and the Movement of the Ram JanMabhoomi.
He won from Ranikhet for the first time at Uttar Pradesh which was not divided in 1996.
He also became a minister in the temporary government led by Nityan and Swamy in Uttarakhand when carved from Uttar Pradesh in 2000.
He represents Ranikhet in the Uttarakhand Assembly for two requirements from 2002-2007 and then again from 2012-2017.
