Nagpur: Many of us usually experience burning sensations in the chest and sometimes stomach acid flows back to the mouth through the tube that connects the mouth and stomach called the esophagus.
While most of us experience such problems occasionally and get rid of them by having drugs, some people face this more often and have the same serious effect.
This condition is called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
This backwash (reflux acid) is not only annoying but also damages the esophageal layer.
Recently, a 24-year-old girl who has severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) was treated in Nagpur by conducting a new procedure – “Anti Reflux Mukosectomy” (arm).
This technique is a relatively new endoscopic procedure for GERD treatment introduced only four years ago by Professor Japan Haruhiro Inoue.
It was done for the first time in Central India at Midas Hospital by Dr.
Saurabh Mukewar and his Endoscopy team – Dr.
Shital Ganjre, Shailesh Chawhare, Kumar Sambodhi and Pooja Fodekar.
“The patient was a young girl with a symptom of heartburn and a troublesome regurgitation.
He was diagnosed with Gerd.
He was treated with drugs, which enhances the symptoms of heartburn but he continues to experience a troublesome regurgitation that causes significant discomfort.
He wants to have the option” not afraid “Non-surgical for management of symptoms,” said Dr.
Saurabh Mukewar.
While talking about the arm, he said that it was a procedure “without fear”, “not afraid” and “not painful” done using a minimal invasive approach with endoscopy.
“In this procedure, the top layer of the gastric layer is right below the connection with the esophagus is removed by endoscopy.
After deletion, the network recovers with” grated tissue “and thus generates the reduction of the” reflux “content into the esophagus and resolution of symptoms,” he said.
GERD treatment involves taking acid suppressors, which are very effective but has been linked long-term complications such as dementia, kidney failure, loss of bone density.
“Patients with Gerd often have to take this medicine every day.
Weapon procedures provide simple non-surgical options for this condition.
The majority of patients who undergo weapons procedures have improved symptoms and their patients can stop or reduce their acid doses,” said Dr.
Mukewar.
“The patient has a long and active life forward to life.
So, we decided to go for this process.
Follow-up will notify us more about the success of the process.
This can be a modifier of the game in treating GERD in the future,” said Dr.
