Pune: Deputy Chief of Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday said the government was considering extending Metro Pune to Katraj, Wagholi, Hadapansar, Chandni Chowk, and Nigdi as part of his plan to strengthen public transportation in the city.
Pawar – Also the district guardian minister – said the government would heat the project adequately.
Pomar on Friday marked the official metro trial running with a stretch of three kilometers between Venaz Depot and the ideal colony station in PAUD Road.
This section is part of the Vanz-Ramwadi route which is elevated by 14 km.

“The extension of the Katraj will be underground because the elevated route is not feasible.

Pawar shows projects such as Metro are executed by contributions from the government and state governments and local civil bodies.
“The state government will contribute to its shares to complete the Metro work and issue permits needed to avoid delays,” said Deputy Minister of Chief.
Deputy Ministerial Minister said the city was growing rapidly and there was a need to provide effective services for better trips.
About 60% of the ongoing Metro project work has been completed so far.
The remaining work is expected to be finished earlier.
Mayor Mohol said that PMC had planned a high-capacity transit mass project (HCMTR) in the city to improve the traffic movement.
“Options can be explored to introduce Metro Neo services in HCMTR to strengthen public transportation.
