Guwahati: Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi is likely to be released from prison on Thursday because the Nia Court specially trapped him and three of his colleagues from all charges under the alleged role in the hard anti-CAA in December 2019.
Gogoi and his colleagues were accused of two The case under the law activity law (prevention) that violated the law, 1967.
Independent legislators and two other partners on June 22 were cleared for the first case.
Nia Prospal Das Judge did not frame the accusations of Gogoi and three associacations of Dhairjya Konwar, Manas Konwar and Bitu Sonowal in connection with the Chandmari case where they were accused of having a Maoist relationship.
Nia was investigating two cases, which was originally registered at Chandmari and Chabua Police Station, related to the role of alleged Gogoi and his colleagues in violent protests.
Gogoi is likely to be released later on after the court sent an order to release to prison.
Three of his colleagues had come out with a guarantee.
