Panaji: Given the increase in Covid-19 cases in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday canceled all of its public meetings until January 13.
It has planned two major public meetings every day in various locations in all locations in all locations of constituencies.
Speaking to Toi, BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanaavade said that because there was an increase in Covid cases, the party had decided not to put the community at the risk of being infected by meeting by holding a meeting.
“We don’t want to be blamed for the spread of Covid,” he said.
Since last week, BJP has begun major public meetings in all constituencies to propertine the level.
“We invited around 1,000 to 1,500 people at public meetings, but more than 2,500 were present.
The crowd was uncontrolled, and therefore we decided to cancel all our meetings until the situation was normal,” he said.
Tanavade said that instead of campaigning through public meetings, political leaders and candidates will reach people through a door-to-door campaign.
“We will also hold small corner meetings to reach people and convince them to choose BJP,” he said.
The BJP State President said that they would even ask national leaders not to visit the country until January 13 because they had canceled public meetings.
BJP will again review the Covid situation in the state before deciding to hold a public meeting.
State health officials said that the third wave had hit the state from December 28 and had continued increase in cases.
The state government has closed schools and colleges given the increase in cases.
Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant said that the state government was considering forcing night at night.
The Unit Task Committee on Covid management on Monday has decided to implement the recommendation of the Virus Management Expert Committee, which includes hours of night.
