Vienna: Alexander Zverev beat American Qualifier Frances Tiafoe 7-5, 6-4 in the final of the Vienna ATP tournament on Sunday to claim his fifth title this year.
The two German seeds carried out their record since losing the last 16 at Wimbledon in June to 25-2 as he won in one hour and 36 minutes.
He has claimed all the five finals he competition this year with the previous title coming in Acapulco, Madrid, Olympics and Cincinnati.
“He didn’t let me play as I wanted to play, tactically he was very good,” Zverev said.
“But I’m happy with victory and I’m happy with my fare title this year and I’m happy with my first thing in Vienna, so it’s a good day.” Zverev went bankrupt in the fourth match of the first set but Tiafoe, the world number 49, immediately went back bankrupt.
Zverev found a breakthrough in the tense 12 game that he took after three Deuces.
In the second set of Zverev service was rarely threatened when he produced eight ace, while he had broken the points against Tiafoe in the second and sixth match before finally making a count in the 10th game.
He then argued for friends to close victory.
Tiafoe aims to win his first tour title since Delray Beach in 2018.
