Agra: The BJP Aligarh unit has appealed to the Yogi Adityanath Principal Minister to name the newly built mini airport in the city after the Kaly Singh veteran party.
This airport tends to be open to air traffic next month.
Aligarh MP Satish Gautam said that Babuji (Kalyan Singh) was a popular figure not only in the state but throughout the country.
This will be a matter of pride for every BJP leader if the airport is named after.
“The contribution to the RAM temple movement is known to all.
He is also personally connected with the residents of Aligarh,” Gautam said.
The BJP ‘Mantri’ district in Aligarh, Yatin Dixit said that he had given a memorandum to the main minister through district judges demanding that the airport be named after Babuji, which contributed to the city, the state, and the party was unmatched.
He said it would be the right award for great leaders.
“We will feel proud if his name remains related to the city,” he said.
Mini airport construction work has been completed.
Immediately the DGCA team will visit Aligarh to be checked before giving a nod to apply for a license.
“The airport project that began in 2018, has a cost of more than Rs 20 Crore and is almost complete.
This will be checked by the DGCA team next week,” said Magistrate City Vineet Kumar Singh.
He added that the state police would take care of airport security and 50 police personnel would be told for it.
Project Manager Rajkiya Nirman Nigam, Hariom Sharma said that all work including the extension of the runway of 900 meters to 1,250 meters, the terminal building and five supervisors were completed.
“At least six 19-seats can be parked at the airport,” he said, adding that under the regional connectivity scheme (RCS) aviation was proposed from Aligarh to Lucknow in the first phase.
Then, air travel facilities will begin with Aligarh to various cities in the state.
