Alipore CJM saves 2 lawyers from electrical deaths

Kolkata: The Chief Judge of the Alipore Police Court on Thursday afternoon saved two lawyers, who slipped and touched the iron pole connected to the living wire during the rain, by throwing wooden chairs to separate them from the electricity pole.
Supratim Barik (40) and Arkadeep Mukherjee (25), both lawyers from the court of Pawajipur with a special trial at the Alipore court, were taken to a private hospital in Ekbalin where they underwent several tests and then dismissed.
“It was only because of the timely intervention of Subrata Subrata Mukherjee that the two lawyers could be saved.
The CJM was in his room at around 1:30 a.m.
when he heard their crying It seems unconscious while Arkadeep, who has tried to free the barics, shivered in pain.
CJM took the wooden chair from his room and threw it to the duo and they fell from the pole, “said Subrata Sardar, Secretary of the Association of Bars on Alipore.
Although the area was not flooded, the police suspected the iron pole attached to the tin warehouse had lost the cable that was entangled and was given by electricity.
Another lawyer, who later appeared before the CJM court in the second half for an audience, said the CJM had told him that he was still trembling on the impact of the incident but he was happy he could save two lives.
Mukherjee, however, is not available for comments.
The lawyer said they would meet police and Alipore District Judges on Friday to seek maintenance of water misery and direct repairs from electrical fittings in the court.
In a separate incident, a 56-year-old security guard was electrocuted and died on Wednesday night at Jorabagan.
Kashinathi Jyoti pulled the garage window leaves where it worked when he could be reduced, police said.
The police source said Jyoti lived in the garage during a pandemic.
“On Wednesday, the living wire fell on the shutter.
Once he touched the shutter garage, he was electrocuted.
He lay there for some time before his colleagues checked where he was.
He was declared dead at RG Kar Hospital,” said a person source.
Meanwhile, Police Rabindra Sarobar said they were investigating the situation in which a 45-year-old sidewalk resident, Gunnu Roy, was found dead on Jalan Jatin Das Road-Lake View across 7am on Thursday.
