Chennai: State Minister of Finance PT Palanivel Thiaga Rajan on Friday announced in the Assembly to fill all 14,317 police vacancies.
The State Police Department has a sanction power of 1.33,198 personnel.
At least 90 police deputy supervisors (DSP) completed their training at the Tamil Nadu Police Academy and their passing parade held in July.
They will be posted as a trial period officer in the police sub-division.
Minister of Man Chief M K Stalin gave the order of the appointment to 900 police sub-inspectors – including 270 sis women ‘and one transsexual woman – chosen recently through the Tamil Nadu (TNUSRB) service recruitment board in July.
They will be given seven months of training in TNPA, and one month practical training will be assigned to them separately.
TNUSRB initiated the selection process to recruit 10,906 police personnel – including 119 fire and rescue service personnel and 458 prison personnel – in September last year.
Recruitment will be resolved soon and they will be sent to each police recruitment school in the district for their training.
Immediately after completing the procedure for the Class II Police Election, TNUSRB officials had planned to recruit 2021 police batch sub-inspectors.
Meanwhile, the 8,930 crore budget allocation has been made for the Tamil Nadu Police Department, while 405 Crore has been allocated for the Department of Fire.
However, almost 89% of this will be a staff salary.
The remaining 11% of the approved funds will be allocated after discussions in the high-level committee consisting of the Secretary of the Chief, Finance Secretary, Secretary of the House and Senior IPS officers including DGP C Sylendra Babu and other senior officers.
In 2019-2020, in accordance with the revised budget allocation for the police department, the state government gave sanctions 8,124 crores, while it increased to 8,516 crore in the book year 2020-2021.
Now, it has increased further to 8,930 crores in the financial year 2021-2022.
